Mon May 05 05:00:14 UTC 2025: ## Iran Vows Retaliation Against US, Israel After Houthi Missile Attack on Ben Gurion Airport

**TEL AVIV, ISRAEL/TEHRAN, IRAN** – Iran has issued a stark warning to the United States and Israel, promising retaliatory strikes against their forces and bases should they respond to a Houthi missile attack near Ben Gurion Airport. Iranian Defence Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh declared that while Iran harbors no animosity towards its neighbors, any retaliatory action by the US or Israel would trigger attacks on their interests and bases, regardless of location. This threat follows the unveiling of Iran’s new Qassem Bassir solid-fuel ballistic missile, boasting a range of 1,200 kilometers.

The missile attack, launched by Houthi rebels in Yemen, landed just 75 meters from Terminal 3 of Ben Gurion Airport, bypassing multiple layers of Israeli air defense systems. At least eight people were injured in the incident. The attack comes amidst escalating tensions, with the Houthis claiming responsibility for downing a US F-18 fighter jet and launching drone attacks targeting US and Israeli assets.

Israel has responded with a vow of multi-pronged retaliation. Defence Minister Israel Katz promised a “sevenfold” response, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that the retaliation would not be a one-time event. The US, according to Netanyahu, is also coordinating action against the Houthis. Tensions have heightened since the US resumed airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen on March 15th, with President Trump holding Iran responsible for Houthi actions. So far, Israel has refrained from directly targeting Yemen, leaving the primary military response to the US. However, the latest attack has significantly escalated the situation and increased the likelihood of a broader regional conflict.
