Mon May 05 15:10:00 UTC 2025: ## IMD Issues Heavy Rain and Dust Storm Alert for Several Indian States

**New Delhi, May 5, 2025** – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe weather alert for several parts of the country, warning of heavy rain, dust storms, and hailstorms on May 5th.

An orange alert has been issued for parts of Rajasthan, where dust storms with wind speeds reaching 50-70 kmph are expected. Similar orange alerts are in place for Uttarakhand, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Saurashtra & Kutch regions for potential hailstorms.

Heavy rainfall is predicted for Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

The IMD forecasts that Northwest and Central India will see little change in maximum temperatures over the next four days, with a potential increase of 2-5 degrees Celsius in the following four days. A gradual decrease of 3-5 degrees Celsius is expected in West India over the next seven days.
