Sun May 04 19:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Karachi Kings Crush Multan Sultans, Dashing Playoff Hopes

**LAHORE –** The Multan Sultans’ playoff hopes in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) suffered a devastating blow Thursday night, as they were crushed by the Karachi Kings by 87 runs at Gaddafi Stadium. This marks the Sultans’ seventh loss in their last eight matches, effectively ending their postseason aspirations.

The Kings, meanwhile, solidified their fourth-place position with their fourth win in seven games. James Vince led the charge with an unbeaten 65, anchoring a strong Karachi innings that reached a formidable 204-4. Mohammad Nabi’s impressive 3-14 further cemented the Kings’ victory, as they bowled out the Sultans for a paltry 117 in just 16.1 overs.

Karachi’s innings was fueled by explosive starts from David Warner (30) and Tim Seifert (22), who put on a quick 34-run partnership. Vince later partnered with Irfan Khan (40) and Khushdil Shah (33*) to propel the team to a commanding total.

Multan’s chase was hampered by poor fielding, including two dropped catches, a persistent problem throughout their campaign. Captain Mohammad Rizwan acknowledged the issue, stating, “We dropped catches at crucial stages in every match, allowing batters to score 60-plus runs. Even today, when our fielding was the best, we dropped two catches.” Rizwan himself was dismissed for a duck, setting the tone for a disastrous batting performance. Only Yasir Khan (26) and Kamran Ghulam (29) offered any significant resistance.

James Vince was named Player of the Match for his crucial innings. The loss leaves Multan Sultans, four-time finalists and 2021 champions, facing a disappointing end to their PSL season.
