**MIAMI GARDENS, FL –** Oscar Piastri secured his fourth win of the season, leading a McLaren 1-2 finish at the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix on Sunday. Teammate Lando Norris finished second, extending McLaren’s dominance in the 2025 championship. The team has now won five of the six races this season.
Piastri’s victory follows wins in China, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia, while Norris also claimed victory in Australia earlier this year and won Saturday’s Sprint race. The McLaren drivers were so dominant that they finished over 30 seconds ahead of the third-place finisher. Piastri celebrated the team’s remarkable turnaround, noting McLaren’s significantly slower performance in Miami just two years ago.
Mercedes’ George Russell finished third, narrowly ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, the 2022 and 2023 Miami Grand Prix winner. Verstappen, who started on pole, had a disappointing race. Intriguingly, no driver has won the Miami Grand Prix from either pole or second position in its four-year history.
The race also featured a tense moment between Ferrari teammates Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, with Hamilton expressing frustration over being held up by Leclerc. Hamilton’s heated radio exchange with his team added drama to the event.
Piastri’s win extends his championship lead to 16 points over Norris, with Verstappen trailing in third place. The race weekend also featured several celebrity appearances, including numerous NFL stars and other high-profile individuals. Notably, Laura Mueller, F1’s first female race engineer, working with the Haas F1 team, was highlighted. The pre-race festivities included a unique drivers’ parade featuring life-sized Lego F1 cars.
