**Dharmashala:** Punjab Kings secured a thrilling 37-run victory over Lucknow Super Giants in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Sunday, climbing to second place in the points table. Captain Shreyas Iyer lauded his team’s performance, highlighting Prabhsimran Singh’s exceptional 91-run knock as a key factor in their win. Singh was named Man of the Match.
While Iyer praised the team’s overall effort, he also pointed out the need for improvement in fielding. Arshdeep Singh’s three wickets also contributed significantly to the victory, marking Punjab Kings’ seventh win of the season. The win takes them to 15 points, trailing Royal Challengers Bangalore by only one point.
Iyer stated post-match, “Every player contributed. Prabhsimran played an extraordinary innings today. My only plan was to win this match; I wasn’t thinking about our team’s statistics on this ground. Every player performed at the right time. However, I think we need to be more alert in the field.”
Prabhsimran Singh added, “This innings was very special. The two points matter a lot to us, and I’m glad this innings contributed to the win. I was set when my catch was dropped; I wanted to capitalize on that dropped catch. Initially, I failed to read the wicket; it took some time, and then we decided we needed to score 200 runs. Whatever the situation demands, someone from our batting unit is stepping up in every game, and it’s good that we’re winning too.” The victory solidifies Punjab Kings’ strong position in the IPL tournament.
