Mon May 05 09:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Chabahar to Build Flood Protection Walls for 11 Villages
**Chabahar, Iran –** The acting governor of Chabahar County, Alireza Noura, announced plans to construct flood protection walls for 11 villages at risk of flooding. The project, estimated at 70 billion tomans (approximately $16.5 million USD), aims to prevent damage and submersion of homes and surrounding lands during future floods. Priority will be given to completing the walls in Bal Shomal and Gholam Mohammad Bazar villages.
Noura detailed a comprehensive plan, developed in conjunction with the provincial office of the Foundation of the Martyrs and Veterans Affairs, addressing both short-term and long-term issues impacting villages and the city’s outskirts. This includes:
* **Land Allocation Reform:** A review of land allocation procedures in five villages (Kamb, Osman Abad, Ramin, Ahmad Abad, and Belsar) is underway.
* **Land Titling:** Expedited issuance of land titles for all villages with over 20 households.
* **Housing Repair:** Completion of 500 flood-damaged housing units from 2019 and expedited disbursement of bank loans to applicants. Village councils must complete land surveys within two months.
* **Funding:** The first tranche of funding for the protective projects will be transferred to village councils within 10 days, according to the director-general of the Foundation of the Martyrs and Veterans Affairs.
* **Urban Development:** A 90-day deadline has been set for the delivery of 10,000 land titles for buildings on the outskirts of Chabahar.
* **Project Oversight:** A monitoring committee will review project progress every 15 days.
The initiative underscores a concerted effort to improve infrastructure and security for vulnerable communities in Chabahar County, located in southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
