Sun May 04 14:25:37 UTC 2025: ## Major Train Disruptions and Schedule Changes Across South India
**Belagavi, May 4, 2025** – Extensive disruptions to train services across South Central, South Eastern, and South Western Railways have been announced, affecting numerous routes and causing significant inconvenience to passengers. The changes, effective from May 5th, are primarily due to Phase II yard modification works at Dharmavaram in the Guntakal division of South Central Railway and other maintenance projects.
Several trains have been completely cancelled, including MEMU specials between Bengaluru and Dharmavaram, DEMU services between Guntakal and Hindupur, and several express trains connecting Yesvantpur, Bidar, Latur, Solapur, and Hassan. Numerous other trains will experience significant delays, with some facing regulation of up to 150 minutes. Many express trains will be diverted, skipping regular stops, to accommodate the yard modifications.
South Central Railway’s modifications have also impacted Kanpur Central-SMVT Bengaluru special trains, reducing the number of trips from six to three in each direction. Furthermore, South East Central Railway cancelled four weekly services due to signalling work in Gondia.
In positive news, several summer special express trains between Hubballi-Banaras and Belagavi-Mau have been extended to cater to increased passenger demand during the holiday season. However, these extensions only partially mitigate the overall impact of the numerous cancellations and diversions.
South Western Railway announced revised timings for the Malgudi Express and several passenger trains, effective May 5th. The changes will affect departure and arrival times at various stations along these routes. Passengers are advised to check updated schedules before traveling. Complete details on affected train numbers, dates, and revised schedules are available on the respective railway websites.
