**DEHRADUN, Uttarakhand (May 4, 2025)** – The Badrinath temple in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district opened its doors to devotees this morning, marking the official start of the annual Char Dham Yatra. The temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, was adorned with fifteen tons of flowers and opened at 6 a.m. amid Vedic chants and devotional music performed by the Indian Army.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and other dignitaries attended the ceremony, which included a special worship performed by the temple’s chief priest. Along with the main temple, several other shrines within the Badrinath Dham complex also opened to the public.
Local authorities have confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage for devotees. The opening of Badrinath follows the earlier opening of Kedarnath (Friday), and Gangotri and Yamunotri (April 30th). The Char Dham Yatra, a significant pilgrimage for Hindus, sees lakhs of devotees visiting the four holy sites each year. The temples are closed for six months annually following Diwali, reopening in April or May.
