Sun May 04 14:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Fever Star Caitlin Clark Expected to Play Sunday Despite Leg Injury

**INDIANAPOLIS, IN –** Indiana Fever rookie sensation Caitlin Clark missed the team’s exhibition opener Saturday against the Washington Mystics due to a left leg injury. While initially listed as questionable, Clark was ultimately ruled out just before tip-off. Despite the setback, the Fever secured a 79-74 overtime victory.

Clark, a first-team All-WNBA selection and last season’s Rookie of the Year, watched the game from the bench, where head coach Stephanie White praised her active engagement with teammates and coaching staff. “Her communication was outstanding,” White stated. “She was really engaged, and I felt like at one point she wanted to go back and put her uniform on and come out and play.”

While Clark’s injury status was initially uncertain, White expressed optimism about her prospects for Sunday’s game against the Brazil national team at the University of Iowa. “She’s had a lot of progress in the last 24 hours,” White explained. “We’ll see what happens and how she feels after today’s workouts. Hopefully, she’ll be ready to go.”

In Clark’s absence, veteran Sydney Colson filled the starting point guard role, and other Fever players shared the responsibility. Sophie Cunningham led the scoring effort with 21 points off the bench, while Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull contributed a combined 25 points and 7 assists.

The game, scheduled for 4 p.m. ET Sunday and broadcast on ESPN, marks a return to Iowa for Clark, where she enjoyed an illustrious collegiate career, becoming the all-time Division I scoring leader without ever missing a game in four seasons. Fans will be eagerly anticipating to see if the star player can overcome her injury in time to take the court.
