**Mysuru, India (May 4, 2025)** – A 35- to 40-year-old elephant was discovered dead in the Hirikere forest of Bandipur Tiger Reserve on Saturday. Forest guards made the grim discovery during a routine patrol in the Gopalswamy Betta Range.

Senior forest officials and wildlife veterinarians responded, conducting a post-mortem examination and collecting samples for laboratory analysis to determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.
