Sun May 04 14:17:02 UTC 2025: ## Union Minister Rejects Peace Talks with Maoists in Telangana

**Karimnagar, Telangana –** Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, vehemently rejected calls for peace negotiations with Maoist rebels in Telangana on Sunday. Speaking after unveiling a Lord Hanuman statue near Karimnagar, Kumar stated that talks are impossible with an outlawed organization that employs violence against innocent civilians. He criticized both the Congress and BRS parties for advocating such talks, highlighting the Congress’s past ban on the CPI (Maoist).

Kumar directly challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s suggestion to view the Maoist issue from a social perspective, questioning whether the killing of civilians, police, and political leaders by Maoists could be considered a purely social problem. He also criticized BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s call to halt “Operation Kagar.”

The minister further accused the Telangana Congress government of inaction regarding the repatriation of Pakistani nationals and the presence of undocumented Rohingya refugees in the state, warning that Hyderabad could become a terrorist haven if the issue isn’t addressed as a law and order problem rather than a political one. He cited the killing of BJP and Congress party members by Naxalites as evidence of the group’s violence. Kumar demanded the Congress government clarify its stance on the Rohingya issue and challenged them to lift the ban on Maoists.
