**Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, May 3, 2025** – The Government General Hospital (GGH) in Guntur received a significant boost to its healthcare infrastructure today with the donation of ₹1.6 crore worth of ventilators from the Indian Red Cross Society. This contribution, along with a ₹29 lakh donation from the 80th batch alumni of Guntur Medical College, funded the inauguration of a new step-down ICU valued at ₹22 lakh.

The event, held at the GGH, was graced by Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, along with local MLA Mohammed Naseer Ahmed and Guntur Mayor Kovelamudi Ravindra Babu. Dr. Pemmasani unveiled the official GGH logo alongside other dignitaries and donors, praising the philanthropists for their contributions, which also included air conditioners and ICU beds, totaling approximately ₹2 crore. The Minister specifically noted the impact of these donations, including the construction of a new service block and the repair of hospital elevators.

Dr. Pemmasani lauded the Indian Red Cross Society for its enduring commitment to public service, highlighting its continued success even after the departure of its founders. The upgrades will significantly enhance the hospital’s ability to provide vital medical care to the community.
