**Lucknow, May 3, 2025** – The Uttar Pradesh Transport Department launched a 24/7 WhatsApp chatbot on Friday, aiming to revolutionize access to transport-related services for citizens. The initiative, part of the state government’s digital transformation push, allows users to access information and perform tasks like checking vehicle registration details, driving licence information, and challan status directly through WhatsApp.
Transport Commissioner Brajesh Narain Singh stated that the chatbot is designed to enhance transparency and efficiency, eliminating the need for citizens to visit RTO offices for routine inquiries. The service is integrated with central databases, ensuring real-time and accurate information.
To ensure inclusivity, the chatbot supports multiple languages, catering to the linguistic diversity of Uttar Pradesh. Beyond providing quick answers, it offers step-by-step guidance for various services, including road tax payments and ownership transfers.
Citizens can access the service by saving the number 8005441222 and sending a “Hi” message on WhatsApp. The chatbot will then provide a menu of available services. The department hopes this initiative will significantly improve citizen engagement and streamline access to essential transport services.
