**Vellore, May 3, 2025** – Two men were arrested in Vellore on Saturday for assaulting a traffic sub-inspector. V. Manikandan (25) and B. Rajesh (27) were apprehended by Bagayam police after they attacked Sub-Inspector S. Velmurugan.
The incident occurred after Manikandan and Rajesh, while riding a two-wheeler, were involved in a minor accident with a car that subsequently fled the scene. The pair pursued the car but were blocked by a private bus attempting a U-turn. They then verbally abused the bus crew before Sub-Inspector Velmurugan intervened. The ensuing argument escalated into a physical assault on the officer.
Passersby alerted the police, leading to the immediate arrest of Manikandan and Rajesh. Both men have been remanded to the Central Prison in Vellore, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
