Sat May 03 15:00:00 UTC 2025: ## RCB Post Huge Total Against CSK in Rain-Threatened IPL 2025 Clash

**Bengaluru, May 3:** Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) posted a massive 213/5 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in a rain-threatened Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. CSK, winning the toss and electing to field, were unable to contain RCB’s explosive batting display.

Romario Shepherd smashed an unbeaten 53 off just 14 balls, becoming only the third player in IPL history to score a fifty in 14 deliveries or fewer. Virat Kohli contributed a crucial 62, and Jacob Bethell added 55 to the total. The final two overs yielded a remarkable 54 runs, with Khaleel Ahmed conceding 33 runs in a single over.

Matheesha Pathirana was CSK’s most successful bowler, taking 3 wickets. Sam Curran and Noor Ahmad each claimed one wicket.

RCB’s impressive total, however, faces the threat of rain. The match was played under cloudy skies with a high possibility of thunderstorms, which could lead to a washout. A washout would severely disadvantage RCB, who are currently third in the standings with 14 points, while CSK are languishing at the bottom with only 4 points, already eliminated from playoff contention. The match’s conclusion remains uncertain. At the time of writing, CSK are 55/1 in their chase.

The match saw a change in RCB’s playing XI with Luvnig Ngidi replacing Josh Hazlewood. CSK retained their starting lineup.
