Sat May 03 07:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Brewers Routinely Routed by Cubs in 10-0 Shutout

**Milwaukee, WI –** The Milwaukee Brewers suffered a humbling 10-0 defeat at the hands of the Chicago Cubs on Friday night, marking their second consecutive shutout loss by seven or more runs – a franchise rarity. The Cubs, already leading the Central Division, dominated the Brewers from start to finish.

The Brewers’ pitching woes were evident early. Utilizing an opener for the first time this season, Tyler Alexander gave way to Quinn Priester, who was pummeled for seven runs in a disastrous second inning, including a grand slam by Michael Busch. Seiya Suzuki and Pete Crow-Armstrong also added home runs to the Cubs’ offensive onslaught.

Starter Ben Brown, meanwhile, effectively silenced the Brewers’ bats, holding them to just five singles over six shutout innings. The Brewers’ offensive struggles extend beyond Friday’s game, as they have now failed to score in 19 consecutive innings.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy attributed the loss partly to a depleted pitching staff, with several key starters sidelined due to injury. He noted the team’s reliance on pitchers not fully prepared for major league action contributed to the lopsided result. The absence of key players like Aaron Civale, Nestor Cortes, Brandon Woodruff, and Aaron Ashby clearly impacted the team’s performance.

Adding to the Brewers’ woes, Brice Turang, who singled to lead off the game, left the game due to illness.

Despite the disheartening defeat, Murphy stressed that the team hasn’t lost hope. The Cubs, now 20-13, further solidified their position as the division frontrunners. The series continues Saturday and Sunday with the Brewers looking to rebound against Jameson Taillon and Shota Imanaga, respectively.
