**COLUMBUS, OH** – Central Ohio is bracing for a period of stormy weather. The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Licking County until 3:00 p.m. today, with a Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect until 7:00 p.m. for a wide swathe of central Ohio, encompassing counties including Franklin, Delaware, and many others.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day, with a 70% chance of rain. Some storms may bring gusty winds and hail. A cold front moving through tonight will increase the likelihood of rain later today and into the evening.
The weekend forecast calls for cooler temperatures and significantly more rain. Saturday will see steady rain, including downpours, with temperatures in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Sunday will bring more on-and-off rain, with temperatures in the mid-60s. While a few thunderstorms are possible this weekend, severe weather is less likely. Total rainfall accumulation by Sunday night is predicted to be between 1 and 2 inches across most of central Ohio.
The rain is expected to lessen early next week, with a 40% chance of rain on Monday and Tuesday, and temperatures in the upper 60s. By Wednesday and Thursday, the chance of rain drops to 20%, with temperatures warming back into the 70s.
