Fri May 02 16:20:00 UTC 2025: **Young Rajasthan Royals Batsman Sets Unwanted IPL Record**
Jaipur, India – Rajasthan Royals’ young opening batsman, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, became the youngest player ever to be dismissed for a duck in an IPL match during yesterday’s game against the Mumbai Indians at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. The 14-year-old was clean bowled on the second ball he faced, a disappointing start to what was hoped to be a promising innings.
This unfortunate event establishes a new, albeit unwanted, record in the IPL. Suryavanshi’s dismissal surpasses previous records held by other young cricketers who were dismissed for zero at even younger ages in other T20 matches. The previous record holder was Shah Murid, who was dismissed for a duck at 13 years and 284 days old in a 2012 match in Lahore.
While Suryavanshi’s age at the time of his dismissal (14 years and 35 days) places him among the youngest players ever to play a T20 match and be dismissed for a duck, the record highlights the pressures faced by exceptionally young athletes in professional sports. The other players featuring in the top four youngest to be dismissed for 0 are George Sese (14 years and 313 days) and Raymond Cocker (15 years and 81 days).
