**New Delhi:** In a move to boost financial inclusion, the Department of Posts and SBI Funds Management Limited (SBIFM) have partnered to offer doorstep KYC verification services for SBI Mutual Fund investors. This collaboration leverages India Post’s extensive network of over 1.64 lakh post offices to bring convenient and secure KYC completion to individuals across India, regardless of location.
The initiative, announced Tuesday, aims to streamline the often cumbersome KYC process, particularly benefiting those in rural and underserved areas with limited access to traditional financial services. Trained India Post personnel will collect necessary documents directly from investors, ensuring secure handling and privacy.
The partnership directly supports the government’s ‘Jan Nivesh’ initiative to increase participation in India’s capital markets and aligns with the Digital India program’s push for digitized financial services. By simplifying KYC, the program aims to demystify the process and encourage wider investment in mutual funds. The convenience of doorstep service is especially beneficial for senior citizens and individuals with mobility challenges.
