**SRIKAKULAM, Andhra Pradesh (May 2, 2025):** Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham and AP Koulu Rythu Sangham launched a protest rally today, demanding the completion of stalled irrigation projects in Srikakulam district. The rally, dubbed the “zeepu yatra,” will travel across various areas, highlighting the delays in projects like the Vamsadhara phase-2.
CPI(M) district secretary D. Govinda Rao criticized the government for its failure to secure land in Odisha needed to complete the Vamsadhara phase-2 project, stating that only 200 acres are required. He emphasized the importance of the Neradi barrage for the project’s success.
The CPI(M) also announced a planned protest on May 7 at the Srikakulam Collector’s office, opposing the construction of a proposed cargo airport on farmland in the Palasa division. The protest highlights the farmers’ growing frustration over stalled development projects and land acquisition issues.
