**Mumbai, India** – The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has declared six bank holidays for May 2025, impacting banking operations across various states. These holidays, observed for national, regional, and religious reasons, are in addition to regular weekend closures and the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.
The holidays include Maharashtra Din and May Day (Labour Day) on May 1st, impacting several major cities; Rabindranath Tagore’s birthday on May 9th (Kolkata only); Buddha Purnima on May 12th (multiple states); Sikkim State Day on May 16th; Kazi Nazrul Islam’s birthday on May 26th (Tripura only); and Maharana Pratap Jayanti on May 29th (Himachal Pradesh only).
