Thu May 01 16:53:20 UTC 2025: **Indian-Made Helicopters Cleared for Flight After Grounding**

Bengaluru, India (May 1, 2025) – The Indian Army and Air Force have received clearance to resume operations of their Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) Dhruv, following a grounding in January. The grounding, affecting approximately 330 helicopters, was implemented after a January 5th crash of an Indian Coast Guard ALH Mark-III resulted in the deaths of three crew members.

The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the manufacturer, announced the clearance based on recommendations from a Defect Investigation Committee. A plan for the phased return to service has been developed in coordination with the armed forces. The grounding had created a shortage of helicopters, impacting military operations, particularly highlighted by their absence at Aero India 2025. However, Army ALH Dhruvs were temporarily deployed in Jammu and Kashmir following a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The investigation into the January crash continues.
