AMARAVATI, Andhra Pradesh – Eight devotees were killed and several others injured when a wall collapsed at the Simhachalam Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple during the Chandanotsavam festival in Andhra Pradesh. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed shock and grief over the incident, stating that it deeply disturbed him.
The collapse, attributed to heavy rainfall, occurred during the celebrations. The Chief Minister offered his condolences to the families of the victims and assured that the injured are receiving medical attention. He is personally overseeing relief efforts and has spoken with the district collector and superintendent of police to coordinate rescue and aid. He also chaired a high-level review meeting with officials to determine the cause of the collapse and to direct further action. The Chief Minister may visit the victims’ families at KGH hospital.
