Tue Apr 29 08:49:10 UTC 2025: ## Historic Well Revived and Donated in Belagavi, Karnataka

**Belagavi, Karnataka, April 29, 2025** – The Pyaas Foundation, a Belagavi-based NGO, has restored a 150-year-old well in Teachers Colony and donated it to the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC). The Khasbag Mattikop well, a British-era structure, once supplied drinking water to the surrounding areas of Tilakwadi, Shahapur, and Khasbag, but had fallen into disrepair.

Thanks to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding from AKP Ferrocasts and Bemco Hydraulics, the foundation revived the nearly 30-foot deep well, which now has the capacity to provide up to 1,000 tankers of water daily. The NGO also undertook reforestation around the well site.

The restored well was formally handed over to Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Roshan in a ceremony attended by BCC Commissioner Shubha B. Mr. Roshan pledged the corporation’s continued support to the foundation’s efforts. Representatives from the sponsoring companies were also felicitated for their contribution. Madhav Prabhu, president of Pyaas Foundation, highlighted the organization’s ongoing commitment to community water management.
