Tue Apr 29 10:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Major Croma Showroom Fire in Mumbai; Questions Raised Over Response Time
**Mumbai, India –** A major fire broke out early Tuesday morning at a Croma showroom located in Bandra West’s Link Square Mall, prompting a large-scale emergency response. The fire, which started around 4:11 am, quickly escalated to a Level-IV blaze, requiring the deployment of 13 fire engines, numerous water tankers, and specialized equipment, including a fire-fighting robot. While the fire was contained to the basement, thick plumes of smoke filled the area. No casualties have been reported.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade responded swiftly, but criticism has been leveled against their handling of the situation. NCP leader Zeeshan Siddique alleged that a quicker response could have prevented the fire from spreading, claiming that firefighters lacked proper equipment and failed to use available resources effectively. He stated the initial spark in the basement could have been easily extinguished.
This incident follows two other significant fires in the city. On Monday, a gas leak caused a fire at a Byculla bakery, resulting in four burn injuries. Sunday saw a major fire at the Enforcement Directorate’s office building in Ballard Estate, which reached Level-III.
The cause of the Croma showroom fire is currently under investigation. Authorities are working to determine the extent of the damage and the full circumstances surrounding the incident. The series of fires in the city has raised concerns about fire safety protocols and emergency response capabilities.
