**New Delhi, April 29, 2025** – The Congress party is demanding answers from the Indian government regarding the detention of Border Security Force (BSF) Constable Purnam Sahu by Pakistan Rangers. Sahu inadvertently crossed the international border in Punjab’s Ferozepur district on April 23rd while escorting farmers.
Six days after his apprehension, Sahu’s family remains anxiously awaiting his safe return. Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera questioned the government’s actions on X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the family’s distress and demanding immediate steps to secure Sahu’s release.
BSF officials report that Sahu strayed across the border while resting under a tree. While a flag meeting between Indian and Pakistani border forces has taken place, no further updates have been provided to the family. The incident comes amidst heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22nd. Sahu’s wife arrived in Chandigarh on April 28th to liaise with BSF officials in Ferozepur.
