**Guwahati, Assam –** Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the arrest of at least 27 individuals for allegedly defending Pakistan following the April 22nd terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The arrests, made by Monday, April 28th, include opposition AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam, who faces sedition charges. Mr. Sarma stated on X (formerly Twitter) that the individuals were apprehended for supporting Pakistan’s alleged complicity in the attack, which killed 26 people. He previously indicated that the National Security Act could be invoked against those arrested. The Chief Minister emphasized the inherent animosity between India and Pakistan, asserting that the two nations must remain enemies.
