**Puducherry, April 27, 2025** – The ascension of several Puducherry Government Law College alumni to the Madras High Court bench was celebrated Sunday in a ceremony attended by Lt. Governor K. Kailashnathan and Chief Minister N. Rangasamy. Lt. Governor Kailashnathan lauded the judiciary’s role as a protector of the Constitution and emphasized the increasing complexity of legal issues, urging judges to adapt while upholding core values of integrity and independence. He highlighted the significant impact of judicial pronouncements on public policy and governance.
Chief Minister Rangasamy announced plans for a National Law School in Puducherry, stating that funding has been requested from the central government. Justice R. Subramanian of the Madras High Court revealed that land has been secured for a new court complex in Puducherry, urging the government to expedite its establishment. He also noted that nine out of fifteen recently appointed Civil Judges hail from Puducherry. The event included addresses from several Madras High Court judges and Puducherry ministers.
