Mon Apr 28 06:00:00 UTC 2025: **JNU Student Union Election 2025: Left Alliance Sweeps Key Posts, ABVP Makes Gains**
NEW DELHI – The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Student Union election results for 2025 have been announced, with the Left alliance (United Left) securing a significant victory. The alliance won three of the four key positions: President, Vice President, and General Secretary. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) won the Joint Secretary post.
Nitish Kumar (AISA), contesting on the AISA-DSF alliance ticket, won the President’s position with 1702 votes, defeating ABVP’s Shikha (1430 votes). Manisha (DSF) secured the Vice President’s post with 1150 votes, narrowly edging out ABVP’s Nitu (1116 votes). Munteeha Fatima (DSF) won the General Secretary’s position with 1520 votes against ABVP’s Kunal Rai (1406 votes).
Vaibhav Meena (ABVP) secured the Joint Secretary’s position with 1518 votes. Remarkably, the ABVP also achieved its best performance since 1999 in the councillor elections, winning 23 out of 42 seats.
Approximately 70% of eligible students participated in the elections held on April 25th, with around 5,500 students casting their votes.
