Mon Apr 28 18:10:40 UTC 2025: ## Gaza Death Toll Rises Amid Renewed Israeli Strikes

**Gaza City, April 29, 2025** – At least 40 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on Monday, April 28th, according to Gaza’s civil defense agency. This brings the total death toll since Israel resumed its military campaign on March 18th to at least 2,222, with the overall death toll since the start of the conflict in October 2023 reaching 52,314.

The renewed strikes targeted several family homes in the northern, central, and southern Gaza Strip, including one that hit a tent sheltering displaced people. Witnesses described horrific scenes of devastation and civilian casualties, including women and children. Among the victims were eight members of the Abu Mahadi family in Jabalia and ten members of the Al-Ghamari family in Al-Sudaniya.

The Israeli military has not yet commented on the attacks. The resumption of strikes follows the collapse of a two-month ceasefire, due to disagreements between Israel and Hamas. Israel claims its renewed campaign aims to secure the release of hostages still held by Hamas following their October 7, 2023 attack on Israel, which resulted in 1,218 deaths, mostly civilians. 58 hostages remain in Gaza. The ongoing conflict continues to cause widespread suffering and devastation in the Palestinian territory.
