**NEW DELHI, April 28, 2025** – A job fair organized by the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) under ‘Project Virangana’ has provided employment opportunities to 19 survivors of rape and acid attacks. The initiative, focused on skill training and placement, offered hope and a fresh start for women who have experienced trauma.
The fair, which attracted recruiters from major hospitality and service sector companies including ITC Hotels Ltd and The Lalit, saw participants express both excitement and apprehension about their future employment. While some prioritized job locations close to home, others, like 22-year-old Tara (name changed), expressed a desire for placements in more scenic locations.
Participants, who received training at institutions like the Institute of Hotel Management, Pusa, expressed optimism about improved working conditions and higher salaries. Nishtha (name changed), a rape survivor and former Delhi Transport Corporation bus conductor, highlighted the value of her newly acquired hospitality skills. Others, like Supriya (name changed), have already secured positions, while Seema (name changed), another survivor, is pursuing volunteer work as a paralegal with DSLSA.
Naveen Gupta, Special Secretary of DSLSA, lauded the program’s success in his concluding address. Project Virangana demonstrates a commitment to providing not only employment but also pathways to empowerment and a brighter future for survivors.
