**NEW DELHI, April 28, 2025** – China has called for a prompt and impartial investigation into the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people. In a phone conversation Sunday between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, China reiterated its strong support for Pakistan, emphasizing its commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and security interests amid escalating tensions with India.
Mr. Wang expressed China’s understanding of Pakistan’s security concerns and pledged continued support for its counterterrorism efforts. He stressed that combating terrorism is a global responsibility and advocated for restraint from both India and Pakistan to de-escalate the situation. He added that conflict is not in the interests of either nation or regional stability.
Mr. Dar briefed Mr. Wang on the situation, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to fighting terrorism and managing the situation responsibly while maintaining communication with China and the international community.
China’s condemnation of the Pahalgam attack has been previously expressed by both Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun and Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong. Both officials offered their condolences to the victims and their families.
