**Mumbai, India** – Day one of the Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2025 Grand Finals saw Team GodLike seize the early advantage, securing 67 points including a “Chicken Dinner” and 48 kills. The tournament, boasting a ₹3.2 crore prize pool, features 16 top teams vying for victory. Reckoning Esports and Team Orangutan followed closely behind with 64 and 48 points respectively. The event, attended by over 6,000 spectators, is also being livestreamed in over 10 regional languages on Krafton India Esports’ YouTube channel.

However, Day 1 was also marked by controversy. Krafton issued a public apology for a technical error during the opening ceremony which resulted in the Indian National Flag being displayed without the Ashoka Chakra. Attributing the issue to “technical limitations with LED rendering,” Krafton insisted there was no intent to disrespect the flag. While acknowledging the apology, IGN India suggested the situation could have been handled more effectively.

Beyond the main competition, Krafton announced the finalists for its Rising Stars Initiative, a grassroots program aimed at discovering and nurturing new esports talent from across India. The tournament continues for two more days with intense competition expected.
