Hyderabad, Telangana – The Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department has received an overwhelming 1,346 applications for new bar licenses across the state. The applications, submitted by the April 26th deadline, are to replace previously closed establishments in 25 designated locations.
Warangal proved the most popular location, with 491 applications received for just four available licenses. Other areas with high demand include Meerpet (200 applications for one license), Miryalaguda (226 applications for one license), and Khammam (145 applications for two licenses). The remaining applications were distributed across various districts, with numbers ranging from single-digit submissions to over fifty.
The department will now assess the applications to ensure compliance with all guidelines, prioritizing transparency in the licensing process. An additional 15 bar licenses in urban areas, previously delayed due to local elections, will be processed shortly.
