**TIRUPATI, INDIA (April 27, 2025)** – Students from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Sri Venkateswara Vidyalaya in Tirupati have made a significant contribution to environmental sustainability. Participating in the Academy of Gandhian Studies’ “WOW Recycling” initiative, in collaboration with ITC, the students collected and recycled a remarkable 5.6 tonnes of used notebooks.
The initiative, launched as part of the “Save our Planet” campaign coinciding with World Earth Day (April 23rd), involved an inter-school recycling championship. Students were informed about the program through fliers and awareness sessions. At the end of the academic year, they collected their used notebooks in designated bags, which were then delivered to the organizers. The recycled paper was subsequently sent to ITC for processing.
As a token of appreciation, the students received books made from recycled paper. Bhavan’s honorary director, N. Satyanarayana Raju, praised the organizers for promoting sustainability and fostering environmental awareness among young people. The successful program highlights the significant impact young people can have on environmental conservation efforts.
