**Mumbai, India** – The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be closed on Monday, May 1st, in observance of Maharashtra Day. The holiday commemorates the formation of the state of Maharashtra in 1960. Both exchanges are located in Mumbai, the state’s capital.
The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will also observe the holiday, but only during its morning session (9 am to 5 pm). Trading will resume as normal in the evening session (5 pm to 11:55 pm).
