**Bengaluru, India –** Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma has attributed his impressive IPL 2025 form to the guidance of mentor and batting coach Dinesh Karthik. Sharma, acquired by RCB for a hefty Rs 11 crore last year, praised Karthik’s influence on his batting approach, stating that the veteran cricketer has helped him unlock his natural abilities.
“DK has pushed me beyond my comfort zone,” Sharma said in an interview with JioHotstar’s “Gen Bold” series. He explained that while he always possessed a powerful hitting style, previous coaches had restricted his approach. Karthik, however, encouraged him to trust his instincts and utilize his full range of shots. “DK told me to use my natural hand movement and encouraged me to try it,” Sharma revealed.
Sharma also highlighted the strong rapport he shares with Karthik, emphasizing the veteran’s understanding of his game and his ability to provide valuable insights, particularly regarding the pressures of playing at number six. He cited Karthik’s experience as a key factor in his comfort level within the RCB franchise.
Looking ahead, Sharma expressed confidence in RCB captain Rajat Patidar’s leadership, particularly praising his calm demeanor under pressure. However, he noted that securing their first home win at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium remains a significant challenge for the team. Sharma also shared his perspective on successful T20 captaincy, emphasizing the importance of trusting one’s instincts in the fast-paced nature of the game.
