Sun Apr 27 14:20:27 UTC 2025: ## Hindu Group Demands Renaming of “Islamabad Colony” in India
**Kalaburagi, Karnataka, April 27, 2025** – Members of the Hindu Jagruti Sene (HJS) are demanding the renaming of Islamabad Colony in Kalaburagi, Karnataka, citing its resemblance to Pakistan’s capital city. The group held a press conference on Sunday, urging district authorities to replace the name with that of a prominent Indian figure.
HJS district president Laxmikant Swadi proposed several alternatives, including Sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Bande Nawaz, Param Vir Chakra recipient Abdul Hamid, Brigadier Mohammad Usmaan, former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, and renowned musicians Ustad Bismillah Khan and Ustad Zakir Hussain.
The HJS plans to stage a protest on Tuesday and submit a memorandum to the Kalaburagi City Corporation Commissioner. They issued a stark warning that if the name change is not implemented promptly, existing name boards will be defaced with black paint.
