SILVERTON, Texas — The Texas Panhandle experienced a second consecutive day of severe weather Thursday, with two confirmed tornadoes touching down and large hail reported. Viewer Bary Nusz captured video of a tornado near Silverton, which remained on the ground for five minutes (6:11 p.m. to 6:16 p.m.) Fortunately, no damage was reported from this or another tornado sighted near Miami.
Much of the region was under a tornado watch earlier in the day, though this was lifted for Amarillo by Thursday evening. However, a severe thunderstorm watch remained in place for several counties as storms intensified, producing large hail. The National Weather Service Amarillo is monitoring the situation.
