Sat Apr 26 07:22:57 UTC 2025: ## Slight Temperature Drop Predicted for Tamil Nadu Amidst Continued Heatwave
**Chennai, April 26, 2025** – Tamil Nadu is expected to see a slight decrease in maximum temperatures over the next three days, starting Sunday, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai. While searing heat will continue in most of north Tamil Nadu, enhanced rainfall, particularly in southern parts and along the Western Ghats, will help moderate temperatures.
Although some areas may experience temperatures 2-3 degrees Celsius above normal on Saturday, the number of locations with significantly above-average temperatures is predicted to decrease by Sunday. This moderation is attributed to a shift in wind patterns from southerly and westerly to easterly winds.
A weather system is expected to bring light to moderate rainfall to south Tamil Nadu and the Western Ghats, further impacting temperatures in the northern regions. While this will have a marginal effect on the overall maximum temperature, locations like Vellore, predicted to reach 40°C on Saturday, may see a drop to 39°C on Sunday. Increased moisture from the weather system is also expected to prevent further temperature increases.
Madurai and Karur recorded the highest temperatures on Friday at 40.5°C, while Chennai experienced above-average temperatures. The RMC warns that high maximum temperatures, humidity, and night temperatures may still cause discomfort in some areas on Saturday.
