**Elizabeth City, NC** – Alabama native Kyle Welcher secured a dominant victory at the St. Croix Bassmaster Elite Series tournament held on the Pasquotank River/Albemarle Sound this past weekend. The four-day competition, which started Thursday at the downtown waterfront, concluded Sunday afternoon with Welcher’s impressive performance.
Welcher, who essentially clinched the title on Saturday, added another five fish weighing 23 pounds, 14 ounces to his already substantial lead on Sunday. While lighter than his Saturday haul of 34 pounds, and his back-to-back 30+ pound catches on Thursday and Friday, it was enough to solidify his championship win.
Tennessee’s Brandon Lester took second place, and Trey McKinney finished third. Both anglers also weighed in five fish on Sunday. The tournament showcased impressive catches throughout, highlighting the abundance of bass in the Pasquotank River/Albemarle Sound.
