Fri Apr 25 13:38:32 UTC 2025: ## Modi to Relaunch Amaravati Capital City Construction

**Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh –** Prime Minister Narendra Modi will relaunch the construction of Andhra Pradesh’s new capital city, Amaravati, on May 2nd. The project will commence with the building of five towering structures within the Integrated Amaravati Government Complex at Palavagu. These five towers, estimated to cost over ₹3,500 crore (approximately $425 million USD), will house the General Administration Department (GAD), the Andhra Pradesh State Secretariat, and various Head of Department (HoD) offices.

The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has already issued tenders for the construction, divided into three packages to expedite the process. The tallest tower, dedicated to the GAD, will boast 49 floors, while the others will each have 39 floors. The complex, spanning 32 acres, will feature a total built-up area of approximately 485,000 sq m, including extensive basement parking. The design prioritizes efficiency by co-locating the Secretariat and HoD offices.

Construction will proceed in two stages: structural work followed by services and interiors. The project’s strategic placement considers the existing Legislature building and maintains symmetry across the Palavagu waterway. This ambitious relaunch marks a significant step forward in the development of Amaravati as Andhra Pradesh’s new capital.
