**QUETTA, PAKISTAN** – Four Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel were killed and three others injured in a bomb blast near a security vehicle in Quetta’s Margate area on Friday, police reported. The explosion, caused by an improvised explosive device targeting a bomb disposal squad, resulted in the deaths of Subedar Shahzad Amin, Naib Subedar Abbas, and Sepoys Khalil and Zahid. Lance Naik Zafar, Lines Naik Farooq, and Sepoy Khurram Saleem were injured and transported to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

Security forces have launched a search operation following the attack and cordoned off the area. The incident comes amidst a surge in militant activity across Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, prompting intensified counterterrorism operations. A recent report by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) revealed that militant attacks in March surpassed 100 for the first time since November 2014, resulting in numerous casualties.

President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the attack, expressing condolences to the families of the victims and reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating terrorism. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi echoed these sentiments, describing the bombing as a “heinous conspiracy” aimed at destabilizing the country. Both officials paid tribute to the FC personnel for their service and sacrifice. The ongoing investigation seeks to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
