**Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, April 23, 2025** – A terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, has resulted in the deaths of 26 people, mostly tourists, marking the deadliest attack in the region since 2019. The attack, claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), occurred Tuesday, April 22nd, when terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists at a popular meadow near Pahalgam town.

World leaders have condemned the attack and expressed solidarity with India. U.S. President Donald Trump, in a post on Truth Social, stated that the United States stands firmly with India against terrorism, offering condolences and support. Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a message to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressed his deepest condolences and reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to combating terrorism. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also expressed her sadness and solidarity.

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, currently visiting India, also offered condolences, as did Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, all condemning the attack and expressing support for India. Security has been significantly heightened in the region following the incident.
