**Raipur, Chhattisgarh, April 23, 2025** – Dinesh Mirania, a Raipur-based iron businessman, was among 26 people killed in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on his wedding anniversary. Mirania, his wife Neha, and their two children had travelled to Jammu and Kashmir on April 17th to attend a religious event organized by a relative in Jammu before heading to Anantnag, where the attack occurred.
Neighbors described Mirania as a kind and affable man. A local politician and distant relative, Amar Bansal, stated the family believed the situation in the state had improved and chose to combine the religious event with a family excursion. Bansal learned of Mirania’s injury around 6 p.m. and his death three hours later.
Grief and condemnation have swept through Mirania’s Samta Colony neighborhood. His brothers, also residents of Raipur, are mourning his loss; one traveled to Delhi following the news.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai issued a statement condemning the attack and offering condolences to the family, pledging full cooperation from state officials. He expressed his deepest sympathies and prayed for peace for Mirania’s soul.
