**Narasaraopet, Andhra Pradesh, April 22, 2025** – Seven men have been sentenced to four years imprisonment and fined ₹1,000 each for an assault that occurred in July 2021. The incident, which stemmed from a dispute over water usage in Thimmapuram village, resulted in injuries to two victims, Birudu Anantha Rao and Birudu Ravi.
The convicts, all residents of the same locality, used knives, sticks, and iron rods in the attack. They will serve an additional month if the fine is not paid. The Assistant Sessions Judge Court (ASJC) in Narasaraopet, Palnadu district, handed down the verdict on Monday. The case was thoroughly investigated by police officials P. Rambabu and M. Subbarao. Superintendent of Police Kanchi Srinivasa Rao confirmed the sentences in a press release.
The convicts are K. Subhani (21), K. Erra Anjaiah (53), K. Chinnakoti Lingaiah (29), K. Mani Kumar (20), K. Bujji (39), K. Koti Lingaiah (38), and K. Hanumantha Rao (27). The charges included assault causing hurt (IPC sections 323, 324), and attempt to murder (IPC section 307, read with Section 34).
