Mon Apr 21 03:06:33 UTC 2025: ## BJP Accuses West Bengal CM of Mirroring Bangladesh Violence

**Kolkata, April 21, 2025** – A BJP leader has accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of creating a climate of violence against Hindus in the state, mirroring the situation in Bangladesh. Union Minister of State for Education, Sukanta Majumdar, specifically cited recent violence in Murshidabad district related to the Waqf Amendment Act. He alleged that Hindus are being murdered and that the Chief Minister has turned West Bengal into a “Bangladesh version lite,” referencing the recent killing of Hindu minority leader Bhabesh Chandra Roy in Bangladesh.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) separately condemned the abduction and brutal killing of Mr. Roy, expressing strong concern over what it called a troubling pattern of persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh. The MEA urged the interim Bangladeshi government to protect all minorities. Mr. Roy, a respected community leader, was allegedly abducted and beaten to death in Dinajpur district. His death follows other incidents of violence against Hindus in Bangladesh. The BJP’s accusations and India’s condemnation highlight escalating tensions surrounding religious violence in both West Bengal and Bangladesh.
