Sun Apr 20 20:28:40 UTC 2025: ## Delhi’s Mohalla Clinics Rebranded, Concerns Remain Despite Continued Operation

**NEW DELHI, April 21, 2025** – The Delhi BJP government’s rebranding of Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) flagship Mohalla Clinics into Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (U-AAMs) has caused confusion and concern among residents. While the clinics remain operational, misinformation about closures has led to decreased patient visits.

Following a Comptroller and Auditor General report highlighting shortcomings, the BJP plans to upgrade 553 existing Mohalla Clinics and establish 1,139 new U-AAMs. However, clinics operating in rented spaces will be shut down.

The Hindu observed that AAP branding has been removed from many clinics, and spoke with medical staff who reported a significant drop in patient numbers, impacting their income, which is directly tied to patient volume. One doctor noted that their compensation ranges from ₹8 to ₹40 per patient depending on their role.

Despite the rebranding and some closures, currently operational clinics continue to provide services. However, the decreased footfall raises concerns about the long-term impact of the changes and the accessibility of primary healthcare for Delhi residents. The situation underscores the challenges of implementing healthcare policy changes and the need for clear communication to avoid confusion and ensure continued access to vital services.
