Mon Apr 21 12:32:49 UTC 2025: **Tirunelveli Residents Plead for Road Repairs, Anganwadi Job**
TIRUNELVELI, April 21, 2025 – Residents of Bharani Nagar, a densely populated area in Tirunelveli, are appealing to authorities for urgent road repairs. Despite repeated requests, the area’s more than 1,000 families continue to endure dusty, pothole-ridden roads that become impassable after rain. The situation is particularly concerning for the over 3,000 students who use these roads daily.
The residents, whose area is represented by the chairperson of the Thatchanallur zone, presented another petition to Collector R. Sukumar on Monday. They emphasized the need for blacktopping all 25 streets in Bharani Nagar and the construction of a new “scheme road” to alleviate traffic congestion. They also called for a closed culvert to prevent flooding.
Separately, P. Esakkiammal, a mother of quadruplets, submitted a petition requesting an anganwadi assistant job. Her husband’s mental illness following an accident and her family’s financial struggles prompted her plea for employment.
The Collector’s response to these petitions remains awaited.
