**DINDIGUL, INDIA – April 20, 2025** – A 50-year-old woman and a cow died from electrocution in Agaram, Dindigul district, on Sunday, police reported. Preliminary investigations suggest a peacock may have been the indirect cause.
According to police, M. Viknammal attempted to shoo a peacock off an electric wire. The bird’s actions caused the wire to sever, falling onto a nearby cow. Viknammal, in an attempt to save the cow, was electrocuted and died instantly. The cow also perished.
Authorities transported both bodies to Dindigul Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examinations. Electricity Board personnel have since repaired the damaged wires. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
